Crisis Response – Promotion of Forage-based Dairy Production as an Alternative to Rising Feed Price
CASA supported Goras to launch the commercial production of forage feed and ensure continued access to quality, affordable forage for smallholder producers. With few registered companies in Nepal working in forage seeds, Goras has significant potential to reach a large number of dairy farmers. CASA provided both financial and technical support to help Goras develop a model for commercializing forage feed, aiming to increase smallholder access to alternative, affordable, and high-quality feed. The 18-month project (January 2023 – June 2024) had a total cost of £25,143, which included both technical assistance and grants. Through this partnership, a total of 3,807 farmers were reached, contracted, or trained.
