Established in 2014, National Biotech is one of Nepal’s few companies engaged in the production and distribution of organic fertilizers in Provinces 2 and 3. Alongside fertilizers, the company offers a diverse range of organic products that complement its existing offerings, including vitamins, soil conditioners, bio soil, bone meal (used as a plant supplement), and oil cake for nitrogen enrichment. With a focus on sustainable agriculture, National Biotech continues to expand its product line to support soil health and crop productivity. The company currently employs 11 full-time staff.

Promotion of Organic Fertiliser as an Alternative to Rising Chemical Fertiliser Price and Its Unavailability 

CASA supported National Biotech in piloting a business model that promotes the use of locally produced organic fertilizers and improves access to affordable, high-quality fertilizers in Nepal. Through this partnership, National Biotech connected with farmers to enhance productivity and yields by developing and distributing environmentally friendly organic fertilizers. With CASA’s support, the company expanded its services to Province 5 and additional districts in Province 2, tapping into the growing market demand. The project also promoted organic fertilizer use among farmers and agrovets, fostering greater adoption and creating sustained demand.

The 18-month project (January 2023 – September 2024) included both technical assistance and grants, with a total support package of £35,157. In total, 4,200 farmers were reached, contracted, or trained through the initiative.
