Satya Herbal and Spice Products Pvt Ltd

Founded in 2020 by Managing Director Rabindra Nath Shukla, who brings over 40 years of experience in the Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (MAP) industry, Satya Herbal and Spice Products Pvt Ltd is a medium-sized private company dedicated to processing and exporting high-quality Nepali MAPs. With a mission to elevate rural and local community livelihoods, Satya sources over 50 types of MAPs, which it processes into herbal oils, essences, and semi-processed herbs, exporting these to more than 15 countries and serving domestic markets as well. Headquartered in Province 5, the company currently employs 25 staff members.

Satya has focused on scaling up its production of high-value MAP products collected from local farmers and collector groups, including community forest harvesters. Known for its exports of essential oils, botanical extracts, and oleoresins, Satya primarily serves the South Asian region, with plans to strengthen long-term trade with European clients and expand its reach to North America. Satya’s vision to become a leading MAP and processed MAP products exporter from Nepal aligns with its mission to support the economic growth of farmers, especially women and communities reliant on MAPs for income.

Improving the Competitiveness of Export-Oriented Agri-SMEs through Better Factory Capacity Utilisation

This project, running from October 2023 to September 2024, aimed to boost Satya’s competitiveness through greater production capacity, superior product quality, and stronger market positioning. To increase its market share in Europe, the company planned to ramp up production, enhance quality, and strengthen marketing efforts. Through CASA’s support, Satya expanded its supply chain, upskilled staff, improved raw material aggregation, and achieved international certifications including CGMP, ISO 9001, HACCP, and Organic certification to meet European standards.

The overall project budget of £70,842 included CASA’s technical assistance and grant support worth £33,713, enabling a total of 1,028 farmers to be trained in post-harvest and product handling, recruiting 500 new smallholders into Satya’s supply chain. CASA technical support helped upgrade the company website, attend trade fairs and join the international MAP trading platforms (Supplyside365) to build its network and expand its customer base. The partnership successfully secured £275,000 in debt investment, which Satya targeted for factory and machinery upgrades as well as improved raw material aggregation. This investment, alongside a nearly 50% increase in revenue and a 60% rise in production, positioned the company for sustained growth in international markets. Satya also expanded exports to new countries including the UK, Netherlands, Portugal, New Zealand, and the USA.
