Himalayan Supervores Pvt Ltd

Himalayan Supervores Pvt Ltd, established in 2018, is a sister concern of N Agro Pvt Ltd, an agribusiness specialising in micro-organisms, seed production, and the breeding of both normal and hybrid seeds. Himalayan Supervores, which derives its name from the term “Supervores” to represent a new breed of people consuming superfoods, primarily focuses on the processing of vegetables. Based in Balkhu, Kathmandu, the company sources vegetables from smallholder and commercial farmers, which are then washed, sorted, graded, and pre-cut before being sold to both national and international markets. The company employs ten full-time staff and 16 part-time employees.

Bringing Investment to Support and Expand Vegetable Packhouse

Himalayan Supervores is a Nepal-based private company specialising in ozone-washed and hygienically-processed vegetables. During the Covid-19 pandemic, their safe and clean produce gained popularity, prompting the company to explore opportunities for scaling up and entering international markets. To support this vision, on a project budget of £132,157 Supervores partnered with CASA from November 2021 to September 2023, with CASA providing £43,171 in technical assistance and grant funding.

Although unable to secure government agri-loans, the company mobilised £70,057 through retained earnings and shareholder investments to expand its processing capacity. CASA supported improvements in cold chain management, sanitation, machinery use, and B2B marketing. Supervores also worked toward GMP and HACCP certifications to meet international standards.

The partnership helped the company enter export markets, securing three clients in Qatar and negotiating with one in Dubai. Export volumes now range from 1,500 to 3,000 kg per shipment, with two consignments per week. Domestically, the company added ten restaurants to its client base, including three Halal-certified restaurants, and is in talks with major coffee chain Himalayan Java. As a result, Supervores increased revenue by 30% and profits by 20%, effectively doubling both by the end of the partnership.

CASA also helped integrate 4,000 smallholder farmers (50% women) into Supervores’ supply chain through partnerships with up to six agri-cooperatives. These farmers were trained in Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and benefited from competitive pricing and direct market access, leading to an average annual income increase of £80.
